Terzyan David   was born on October 7, 1973, in Yerevan, in a musical family.

1990-1996 studied violin at the Komitas State Conservatory of Yerevan at the String Department, while simultaneously learning conducting at the Faculty of Opera and Symphony.

In 1997 earned a postgraduate degree in Opera and Symphony Conductor in the class of the world-famous conductor Ohan Duryan, whose name is recognised in 110 countries.  

 

For 20 years David Terzyan worked as a professional violinist in various ensembles; Concertmaster of the Yerevan  Symphony Youth Orchestra of Armenia, piano quintet at Yerevan   State  Conservatory, Radio and  TV of Armenia Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Zhilina (Slovakia), the Philharmonic Orchestra of Acapulco (Mexico). All those years he toured  in different countries including the USA, France, Slovakia, Austria, Mexico and Russia.

 

David Terzyan began his conducting career at the age of 18. During the period in Armenia, he founded his first chamber orchestra   "Sagmos"   of the Apostolic Church, and a year later, the "Renaissance" chamber orchestra at the Choral Society of Yerevan.

In 1995, at the age of 22, among numerous conductors David was selected  to be assistant conductor  of the symphonic orchestra of  Radio and TV of Armenia. Experience with the symphony orchestra helped reveal and show more of David’s musical abilities, both  in his conducting technique, and in interpreting great composers from different eras from Bach  to  Shostakovich.

From 1999 to 2010 he conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra of Acapulco (Mexico)

In 2005, won  II  International  competition  conductors im "Eduard  Mata" diploma (Mexico)

In 2003 - guest conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the State of Idalgo in Pachuca  (Mexico)

In 2006 - guest conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the State of Queretaro (Mexico)

In 2018 - guest conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of the Opera Theater at the Moscow Conservatory

In 2019 - guest conductor of the Mind Speler Chamber Orchestra Cathédrale Saints-Michel-et-Gudule (Bruxelle)

Since 2010, David Terzyan reached a new milestone. At the invitation of the Head and Director of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Ministry of Culture of Abkhazia Anatoly Khagba (Hon. Title: People's Artist of Abkhazia), David Terzyan comes to Abkhazia. Here he assumes the position of the Chief Conductor of the State Chamber Orchestra of the Republic of Abkhazia and is also appointed conductor of the military brass band   of the Defence Ministry of the Republic of Abkhazia. For 10 years, Maestro Terzyan has been immersed in hard work to revive the Symphony Orchestra of the Republic. 

Terzyan's dedication and diligence  is bearing fruit both in the Chamber Orchestra and in the Defence Ministry Orchestra of the Republic of Abkhazia. The repertoire is growing and improving; creativity is gaining increasing popularity and recognition among a wide range of viewers, in Abkhazia and beyond.

 

During the period from 2010 to 2024, David Terzyan held more than 400 concerts. In 2017, for the first time in the history of the orchestra, as part of the Russia-Abkhazia cultural exchange, a tour took place to the capital of the Russian Federation, Moscow, together with the Moscow State Chapel. V. Sudakov, which was a great success. In 2020, the group was again invited to Moscow to perform at the Rachmaninoff Hall of the Moscow State Conservatory named after P. Tchaikovsky. At the end of October 2022, a concert with the piano duet "PIANO DUO" was held in the chamber hall of the Moscow "International House of Music" to a full house. In the work of the State Chamber Orchestra under the direction of David Terzyan, a significant share is occupied by projects that popularize the music of Abkhaz composers, as well as music of the Baroque and Classical eras; works by romantic and impressionist composers, music by Soviet composers and modern music are performed. In order to enhance spiritual and moral education educational concerts are held for children and youth.

In 2013, a decree was signed on assigning  the honorary title "Honored Artist of the Republic of Abkhazia"

In 2020 on awarding the honorary title "People's Artist of the Republic of Abkhazia"
